CONGRATULATES GREG GIRVAN ON PASSING THE BAR |
| FMBK is proud of its new first-year
associate, Greg Girvan, for successfully completing the California Bar Exam.
World-renowned for being one of the toughest in the country, The State Bar of California's
Committee of Bar Examiners reported in November 2010 that only 54.8 percent of the
applicants passed the July 2010 General Bar Examination. Greg is a product of FMBK's Summer Law Clerk Program. Evan Okamura, head of the
Summer Law Clerk Program committee, along with Toni Acosta, selected Greg from more than
200 law students vying for the spot. Evan and Toni began their careers at FMBK in the file
center and worked their way up through law school. With this experience in mind, they
wanted to create a special training program for the Summer Associates, which includes:
legal research, legal writing, client interaction, and attending mediations, trials,
depositions, and court appearances. Matthew Skarin and Taylor Bouchard, now first
year associates, are also products of the FMBK Summer Law Clerk Program. Evan
Okamura and Nancy Burt currently run the Summer Law Clerk Program committee.
Greg is a 2010 graduate of Loyola Law School, Los Angeles,
where he finished in the top 25% of his graduating class. Born and raised in the San
Fernando Valley, Greg attended the Granada Hills High School Math, Science and Technology
Magnet. He went on to earn a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California
at Davis, with a minor in History. Before law school, Greg spent several years working as
a legislative deputy in the California State Assembly. He focused on enacting policies
that would prepare California's communications infrastructure for natural disasters.
Additionally, he was responsible for writing legislation to reduce workplace
discrimination. After returning to Los Angeles to begin law school, Greg remained
active in local politics. He has worked on several local campaigns and served as the
President of a local group that seeks to engage young voters.
If you would like to contact Greg, you can email him at ggirvan@fmbklaw.com. |
