Steven A. Mindel

Managing Partner Family Law & Business Transactions Steven A. Mindel, a Certified Family Law Specialist* since 1998, is the Managing Partner of FMBK and divides his time between practicing Family Law and Business Transactions. Mr. Mindel graduated college Magna Cum Laude from UCLA in 1981 and received his Juris Doctorate degree from USC Gould School of Law in 1985. Mr. Mindel was named as a Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine, 2004 - 2013, and was named one of Southern California's Top 100 lawyers from 2007 - 2014. In addition to being featured on the cover of the Super Lawyers insert in the 2009 issue of Los Angeles Magazine, he was featured in an article titled, "The Man Who Would De-Fang Divorce," in the 2009 Super Lawyers Magazine. Mr. Mindel was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers® 2010 – 2013 and has an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell. Mr. Mindel is the current Chair of both the Los Angeles County Bar Association Family Law Section Continuing Legal Education and Liaison Committees,and currently sits on the Levitt & QuinnFamily Law Center Advisory Council. He was appointed and served a two year term on the California State Bar Family Law Section Executive Committee ("FLEXCOM".) He also served as an Advisor to FLEXCOM for four additional years. Mr. Mindel is a Past President of the Board of Trustees of University Synagogue and previously served on the Governing Board of Directors of Los Angeles FreeClinic where he received two special recognition awards for his volunteerism in the family law field. Mr. Mindel is a frequent guest lecturer. Some recent presentations include: "Premarital Agreements" as well as "How to Keep Your Law Firm From Becoming a Not For Profit Organization" for White, Zuckerman, Warsavsky, Luna, Wolf & Hunt; "The Intersection of Post Marital Agreements and Estate Planning" for the Legal Education Institute; "Marketing 101 for Attorneys" for the Beverly Bills Bar Association Barristers; and "Preparing for Child Custody Evaluations" for Divorce Magazine. Mr. Mindel is a lifetime member of the UCLA Alumni Association, USC Alumni Association and the USC Law and Leadership Society. He is the author of "Cooking For Our Friends," a cookbook that includes step-by-step instructions on cooking meals for parties of more than 40 people. Megan E. Green

Partner Family Law Megan Green is a Certified Family Law Specialist* and Partner in the Family Law Department at FMBK. She has been practicing family law for approximately ten years. Ms. Green's practice concentrates on complex child custody disputes including move away cases, division and characterization of assets and debts, child and spousal support determination, tracing assets, business valuations, and paternity issues. While in college at Auburn University, Ms. Green served as the Student Body President of the College of Liberal Arts and she interned for the Supreme Court of Alabama. She was also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. While in law school at Southwestern, Ms. Green was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, the symposium editor for the Journal of Law and Trade in the Americas, President of the Family Law Society, and Southwestern's liaison to the American Bar Association. During law school, Ms. Green externed for the Honorable Roy Paul, a family law judge. Megan strives to advocate vigorously for her clients while simultaneously counseling them through what is often the most tumultuous experience of their lives.

Ronald Anteau

Of Counsel Family Law Ronald W. Anteau, a Certified Family Law Specialist* since 1980, serves as Of Counsel at Feinberg Mindel Brandt & Klein. His practice focuses on all aspects of Family Law. Mr. Anteau has extensive experience litigating dissolution proceedings involving business valuations, international child custody disputes and drafting prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Since graduating from the University of California Los Angeles, School of Law, Mr. Anteau has practiced Family Law exclusively for over 40 years. Mr. Anteau is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers where he served as counsel to the president and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers where he served on the Executive committee from 1999-2011. Mr. Anteau has also been a member of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers since its inception and has served as the President since 2011. Mr. Anteau was named as one of Southern California's Top Ten lawyers in 2006 and was named as one of Southern California Top 100 lawyers from 2004-2007 by Los Angeles magazine. In 2003, he was named Family Law Person of the Year by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Southern California Chapter. Mr. Anteau has served as the Treasurer of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, US. John B. Chason

Associate Criminal Defense and Family Law

Mr. Chason is a Certified Family Law Specialist* and is an associate in the Family Law Department at FMBK. He has been practicing law for 17 years and has extensive experience in handling all types of family law issues including child custody, support in both simple and complex cases and division of the community estate.

Prior to joining FMBK, Mr. Chason was a sole practitioner in family law and criminal defense firm for over 10 years. He also has a strong background in cases involving domestic violence.

Since graduating from the Ohio State University College of Law, John has successfully argued in the court of appeals in the published case of Ross v. Figueroa and has also written an article on the admissibility of evidence at trial. Mr. Chason was actively involved in the Southern California Family Law Inn of Court, where he oversaw monthly CLE presentations and grew membership for the organization. American Inns of Court is a national legal organization promoting advocacy skills, collegiality and professionalism among attorneys and judicial officers.

Mr. Chason resides in West Los Angeles with his wife and children. He enjoys cooking and spending time with his family. He also enjoys playing basketball and tennis.

Gregory A. Girvan

Associate Family Law

Mr. Girvan is an associate at FMBK. His practice focuses exclusively on all areas of family law including divorces, contested child custody proceedings, drafting and negotiating prenuptial agreements and litigating domestic violence cases.

The majority of Mr. Girvan's cases settle out of court through mediation or settlement negotiations. When his clients have been unable to resolve their cases through settlement, he has successfully litigated community property, child support, spousal support and child custody issues. Additionally, Mr. Girvan has extensive trial experience on a number of interstate and international child custody and child support matters. Mr. Girvan has also prevailed in various domestic violence cases, representing both victims and those alleged to have committed acts of domestic violence.

Prior to joining FMBK, Mr. Girvan served as a Family Law judicial extern for the Honorable Harvey Silberman of the Los Angeles Superior Court. He joined the firm in 2009 through FMBK's summer associate program.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Girvan served as a legislative deputy for the California State Assembly. While working for the Legislature, he drafted legislation to prepare California's communications infrastructure for natural disasters and to curb harassment in the workplace.

Mr. Girvan and his wife currently reside in the San Fernando Valley. He remains active in state and local politics and supports nonprofit legal aid in Los Angeles including Bet Tzedek. He is an avid sports fan, and is particularly passionate about the Dodgers and Lakers.

Amy Kapner

Associate

Amy Stallard Kapner is an associate in FMBK's Family Law Department. While in law school, Amy served as a Family Law judicial extern for the Honorable Maren E. Nelson and the Honorable Elizabeth R. Feffer. Amy also volunteered with the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law. In her free time, Amy enjoys exploring the Los Angeles food scene

Matthew K. Skarin

Associate Family Law, Civil Litigation, and Corporate Transactions

Matthew Skarin is an attorney, a CPA and has his California Real Estate Broker License. Prior to law school, Mr. Skarin worked for the accounting firms of Deloitte & Touche and Miller and Co., doing both tax and compliance work.

During law school, Mr. Skarin clerked for Judge Bluebond in the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles and was an extern in the Clinical Honors Program with the California Attorney General's Office in the Business and Tax division. Additionally, Matthew was a staff member of the Loyola Law School Entertainment Law Review.

Taylor B. Wallin

Associate Business Litigation and Family Law

Mrs. Wallin became an associate in the Family Law Department at FMBK after graduating law school in 2009. While attending law school, Mrs. Wallin enjoyed competing with her moot court team at the national level and also advocating for low-income tenants in the Massachusetts housing court.

Mrs. Wallin currently serves as a co-chair on FMBK's Summer Law Clerk Program where she reviews over 200 applicants each year to select highly qualified summer clerks. Starting as a summer clerk herself, Mrs. Wallin enjoys mentoring the summer clerks and helping them overcome the challenges of starting a legal career. Mrs. Wallin enjoys going to the beach, playing with her dog and spending time outdoors in Redondo Beach.
