Steven A. Mindel, a Certified Family Law Specialist* since 1998, is the Managing Partner of FMBK and divides his time between practicing Family Law and Business Transactions. Mr. Mindel graduated college Magna Cum Laude from UCLA in 1981 and received his Juris Doctorate degree from USC Gould School of Law in 1985.
Mr. Mindel was named as a Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine, 2004 - 2016, and was named one of Southern California's Top 100 lawyers from 2007 - 2016. In addition to being featured on the cover of the Super Lawyers insert in the 2009 issue of Los Angeles Magazine, he was featured in an article titled, "The Man Who Would De-Fang Divorce," in the 2009 Super Lawyers Magazine. Mr. Mindel was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers® 2010 – 2016 and has an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell.
Mr. Mindel is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Family Law Section Executive Committee and currently sits on the Levitt & Quinn Family Law Center Advisory Council. He was appointed and served a two year term on the California State Bar Family Law Section Executive Committee ("FLEXCOM".) He also served as an Advisor to FLEXCOM for four additional years.
Mr. Mindel is a Past President of the Board of Trustees of University Synagogue and previously served on the Governing Board of Directors of Los Angeles Free Clinic where he received two special recognition awards for his volunteerism in the family law field.
Mr. Mindel is a frequent guest lecturer. Some recent presentations include: Panel One - "Our Side of the Street" at From Consult to Trial: Demystifying the Preservation, Collection and Presentation of ESI in Family Law an MCLE put on by ACFLS and Levitt & Quinn along with "Cross-Over Challenges: Family Law & Probate" for the Los Angeles County Bar Association Aviva K. Bobb Advanced PVP Attorney Training Symposium.
Mr. Mindel is a lifetime member of the UCLA Alumni Association, USC Alumni Association and the USC Law and Leadership Society. He is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post column, “The Blog” where he discusses various family law related issues. He is the author of "Cooking For Our Friends," a cookbook that includes step-by-step instructions on cooking meals for parties of more than 40 people. In addition, he is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and an Eagle Boy Scout.
Mr. Mindel resides in Pacific Palisades with his wife, Nancy and their children.

Mr. Kline's law practice focuses on family law (premarital and post marital agreements, marital dissolution, support, child custody and visitation, and paternity). Mr. Kline's practice also includes real estate and business litigation (unfair competition, trade secrets, and commercial disputes). Jerry and his wife Betsy have two children.

Wallace S. Fingerett is a Certified Family Law Specialist,* and his practice is dedicated exclusively to Family Law. He has been an attorney for more than 30 years. His experience includes work as a solo practitioner for more than twenty years and a senior financial consultant for a major brokerage firm. He resides in Woodland Hills with his wife, Rhonda, and their two sons.
Megan Green is a Certified Family Law Specialist* and Partner in the Family Law Department at Feinberg, Mindel, Brandt and Klein, LLP. Megan has been practicing family law for 12 years. Her practice focuses on complex child custody disputes, including move away cases, as well as division and characterization of assets and debts, determination of child and spousal support, tracing of assets, fiduciary duty obligations, transmutations, business valuations, paternity disputes, and palimony actions.
Megan is admitted to the State Bar of California, U.S. District Court (federal), and Washington, D.C. Bar. She serves on the Board of Governors for the Beverly Hills Bar Association (BHBA) and is a member of the Family Law and Entertainment Law Sections of that organization. Megan is acting liaison between the Board of Governors and the Family Law Executive Committee. She is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles.
Megan earned recognition by Southern California Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” from 2010-2015. She is named under "Top Women Attorneys in Southern California", a special section featured in Los Angeles Magazine, and has also been selected for inclusion on the Top 100 Up And Coming attorneys in Southern California and the Top 50 Up And Coming women attorneys in Southern California.
Megan is dedicated to community service. In 2007, she was the recipient of the Beverly Hills Bar Association Barristers' Lawrence J. Blake award, in recognition of her community efforts. She is a former Chairperson and Treasurer for the Beverly Hills Bar Association Barristers' Homeless Project and volunteer for the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law. Megan is also a founding friend for the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities, an organization dedicated to helping children, battered women, issues of homelessness and education. She currently serves as a Daily Settlement Officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court, where she helps litigating parties mediate their custody disputes.
Megan is a proud alumna of Southwestern University School of Law, where she was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, symposium editor for the Journal of Law and Trade in the Americas, President of the Family Law Society, and university liaison with the American Bar Association. During law school, Megan was honored with an externship with Family Law Judicial Officer, the Honorable Roy Paul. Prior to attending law school, Megan received her Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University, where she served as Student Body President of the College of Liberal Arts, interned for the Supreme Court of Alabama, and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Megan remains an active alumna of her Alma Maters and recently served as a guest lecturer for Southwestern School of Law's Negotiation and Legal Writing Course (2015).
Megan is dedicated to professional excellence. She was a participant in the Family Law Branch of the American Inns of Court in Los Angeles, a foundation designed to improve the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar. She has also presented at continuing legal education seminars, including "Oh What a Tangled Web We Weave When First We Practice to Deceive", on the subject of fiduciary duties as interpreted in Marriage of Feldman (2007).
Megan prides herself on her client-centered approach to legal practice. Her professional philosophy draws on Theodore Roosevelt's ideology, "speak softly, and carry a big stick." She believes strong advocacy requires both reasoned negotiation and decisive litigation strategies. Megan advocates vigorously for her clients in both respects, while simultaneously counseling them through what is often the most tumultuous experience of their lives.

Ronald W. Anteau, a Certified Family Law Specialist* since 1980, serves as Of Counsel at Feinberg Mindel Brandt & Klein. His practice focuses on all aspects of Family Law. Mr. Anteau has extensive experience litigating complex dissolution proceedings involving business valuations, custody support issues, same sex relationships, paternity, palimony, international child custody disputes and conflict of jurisdictions. Since graduating from the University of California Los Angeles, School of Law, Mr. Anteau has practiced Family Law exclusively for over 45 years.
Mr. Anteau is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers where he served as counsel to the president and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers where he served on the Executive committee from 1999-2011. Mr. Anteau has also been a member of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers since its inception and has served as the President since 2011.
Mr. Anteau was named as one of Southern California's Top Ten lawyers in 2006 and was named as one of Southern California Top 100 lawyers from 2004 to the present by the Southern California Super Lawyer magazine. In 2003, he was named Family Law Person of the Year by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Southern California Chapter. Mr. Anteau has served as the Treasurer of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, U.S. Chapter from 1999-2011 and was President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Southern California Chapter for the 1996-1997 term.

Nancy Burt, a Certified Family Law Specialist* since 2010, is a senior attorney in FMBK’s Family Law Department. Ms. Burt is experienced in handling complex family law litigation matters, with an emphasis in contested child custody matters. While a well-seasoned family law litigator, Ms. Burt focuses a large part of her practice on mediation and settlement and takes great pride in the fact that she is able to settle the vast majority of her cases, even those involving highly complex financial and custody issues.
For over 25 years, Ms. Burt has earned her clients trust by providing a patient, supportive yet extremely practical and straightforward strategy for their family law cases. In doing so, she has achieved great success in balancing clients’ emotional and financial needs. Ms. Burt is dedicated to sharing her extensive family law knowledge with all of her potential clients and has repeatedly been told that the information she provides in her initial client meetings is more comprehensive than what they have received elsewhere. By always clearly analyzing the potential costs and risks in their cases, Ms. Burt’s clients feel assured that they are getting the straight story they need to make the best decisions in their family law matter.
Ms. Burt received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and received her law degree from the University of San Francisco.
While attending the University of San Francisco, Ms. Burt published "Sex Discrimination: Isbister v. Boy's Club" in the University of San Francisco Law Review in 1985. She also assisted Honorable Robert Weil (Judge Ret.) in editing the Rutter Group, California Practice Guide: Civil Procedure Before Trial.
Prior to joining FMBK, Ms. Burt practiced with the law firm of Coleman-Schwimmer & Warren where her focus was primarily on complex family law litigation.
Ms. Burt heads FMBK's Summer Law Clerk Program where she reviews over 200 applicants each year to select highly qualified law clerks. As a result of this program, FMBK has had the opportunity to closely mentor skilled young family law professionals. This project is extremely important to Ms. Burt, as she sees it as an opportunity to influence the California family law bar in a positive manner.
Attorney Family Law and Criminal Defense
In his approximately 20 years of practice, John Chason has dedicated himself to understanding and achieving the goals of his clients. John understands that every case is unique, with its own set of issues and challenges. As a Certified Family Law Specialist, he has the legal knowledge to provide his clients with the highest level of representation, and as an experienced litigator in both family law and criminal defense; he has the courtroom presence and skills to put that knowledge to use.
John’s clients appreciate that he takes the time to explain each stage of their case and to make sure that they understand their options prior to making decisions on how to proceed. John has extensive experience in handling all types of family law issues, including child custody, support in both simple and complex cases, and dividing the community estate.
Since graduating from the Ohio State University College of Law, John has successfully argued in the court of appeals in the published case of Ross v. Figueroa and has also written an article on the admissibility of evidence at trial. Mr. Chason was actively involved in the Southern California Family Law Inn of Court, where he oversaw monthly CLE presentations and grew membership for the organization. American Inns of Court is a national legal organization promoting advocacy skills, collegiality and professionalism among attorneys and judicial officers.
Mr. Girvan is an associate at FMBK. His practice focuses exclusively on all areas of family law including divorces, contested child custody proceedings, drafting and negotiating prenuptial agreements and litigating domestic violence cases.
The majority of Mr. Girvan's cases settle out of court through mediation or settlement negotiations. When his clients have been unable to resolve their cases through settlement, he has successfully litigated community property, child support, spousal support and child custody issues. Additionally, Mr. Girvan has extensive trial experience on a number of interstate and international child custody and child support matters. Mr. Girvan has also prevailed in various domestic violence cases, representing both victims and those alleged to have committed acts of domestic violence.
Prior to joining FMBK, Mr. Girvan served as a Family Law judicial extern for the Honorable Harvey Silberman of the Los Angeles Superior Court. He joined the firm in 2009 through FMBK's summer associate program.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Girvan served as a legislative deputy for the California State Assembly. While working for the Legislature, he drafted legislation to prepare California's communications infrastructure for natural disasters and to curb harassment in the workplace.
Mr. Girvan and his wife currently reside in the San Fernando Valley. He remains active in state and local politics and supports nonprofit legal aid in Los Angeles including Bet Tzedek. He is an avid sports fan, and is particularly passionate about the Dodgers and Lakers.
Amy Stallard Kapner joined FMBK as a summer associate in 2011. She is now one of the heads of the FMBK Summer Law Clerk Program, and enjoys selecting and mentoring law students and younger FMBK associates.
Amy approaches her work with the fundamental understanding that knowledge is power. For many people, their family law matter is their first experience with the legal system, and it can be confusing and intimidating. Amy ensures that her clients are informed at every stage of the process in order to minimize the stress and fear that plagues many family law litigants.
Amy has represented both male and female clients in complex cases involving contested custody, including long distance move-aways, and sophisticated financial issues such as unconventional spousal support awards, business valuations and enforcement of financial orders. While she is at ease in the courtroom, Amy has successfully settled the vast majority of her cases.
Amy is an aggressive advocate for her clients, both in settlement and litigation. She prides herself on being able to see the big picture from the outset, to see the forest through the trees. Her goal is to attain the best result for her clients and their children in the long term.

Matthew Skarin is a Certified Family Law Specialist, a CPA and has his California Real Estate Broker License. Prior to law school, Mr. Skarin worked for the accounting firms of Deloitte & Touche and Miller and Co., doing both tax and compliance work. Matthew uses his wide variety of legal and financial skills to effectively and artfully guide high net worth individuals, business owners, and investors through the process of dissolution. Through Matthew’s extensive experience he is able to discern the potential pitfalls to his client early in the case, allowing him the opportunity to communicate these issues to the client and take steps to minimize exposure.
Matthew approaches each client’s case from a fresh perspective, developing a strategy for his clients early in their case. He works with his clients to ensure that everything is done to meet their goals. Matthew’s clients appreciate his hands on approach and his availability to discuss their concerns during this particularly challenging time. Matthew believes that the best way to get the results his clients are looking for is through strategic planning, anticipating the arguments of the opposition, and openly communicating his strategies with his clients.
During law school, Mr. Skarin clerked for Judge Bluebond in the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles and was an extern in the Clinical Honors Program with the California Attorney General's Office in the Business and Tax division. Additionally, Matthew was a staff member of the Loyola Law School Entertainment Law Review.

Taylor Wallin is a Certified Family Law Specialist with FMBK’s Family Law Department. Taylor is an experienced litigator equipped with the legal sophistication necessary to handle issues ranging from international child custody disputes to complex financial matters. Taylor is a keen negotiator and strategist, constantly working towards a fair settlement whenever possible. However, if settlement is not reached within a reasonable time frame, Taylor employs a well-designed strategy to bring the case to trial. During Trial, Taylor clearly articulates the client’s story to the Judge with passion and an organized presentation of testimony and evidence.
Taylor’s practice encompasses a diverse range of complicated family law issues. She has extensive experience litigating high conflict child custody matters, and has prevailed for both mothers and fathers in interstate and international child custody relocation cases, even when the child custody evaluation report has been adverse to her client. In cases involving complex financial matters, Taylor works effectively with forensic accountants and expert witnesses, recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars on behalf of her clients. Taylor regularly handles cases involving the establishment or modification of child or spousal support, same sex marriages, obtaining and defending domestic violence restraining orders, contempt trials, dividing Royalties for BMI/ASCAP, Hague proceedings, and jointly owned businesses in a cost-efficient manner.
Taylor’s calm, collected manner in the courtroom, and her exceptional knowledge of the law provides her clients with confidence amidst one of the most difficult times in their lives.
