Julia Matzenger
Julia Matzenger is an attorney at FMBK, where she focuses exclusively on family law and is on track to become a Certified Family Law Specialist. She brings a compassionate and strategic approach to her work, guiding clients through emotionally charged matters such as divorce, child custody, spousal and child support, and domestic violence.
Julia’s dedication to family law began during law school, when she interned at the National Network to End Domestic Violence, focused on the WomensLaw Project in Washington, D.C. There, she provided assistance to individuals facing urgent family law issues, including domestic violence and custody disputes, and answered legal hotline questions to provide direct legal aid to individuals seeking answers to complex and confusing family law matters. Deeply moved by this work, Julia continued volunteering with the organization for over a year following graduation.
After being admitted to the California Bar in 2018, Julia began her legal career in civil litigation, gaining valuable courtroom and client advocacy experience. She transitioned to family law in 2020 where she found her passion in helping clients navigate complex legal and emotional challenges during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Before joining FMBK, Julia practiced at several respected family law firms across Los Angeles and has built a network within the community.
Julia earned her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where she was an active member of the school’s Trial Team and earned a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from the acclaimed Straus Institute. She holds a Bachelors in Science in Criminal Justice, cum laude, with a minor in Psychology from Drexel University, in Philadelphia, PA. During her undergraduate education Julia clerked for a Civil Judge at the Philadelphia Superior Court and interned with the Philadelphia Public Defender’s Office in the Juvenile Division. During her time with FMBK Julia also attended the National Trial Institute Kolodny Trial Skills Course.
In her free time, Julia is an avid reader, gardening enthusiast, and a blue belt in shotokan karate. She uses her hobbies to practice her core tenets of broadening her mind, making the world a more beautiful place, and approaching her practice with strength and grit. Julia is a fierce advocate for her clients and dedicated to guiding them through one of the most difficult stages of their lives.
